Mae Jemison High School receives grant for tennis court renovations

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Tennis players from Mae Jemison High School in Huntsville will play on world-class courts thanks to a national grant.

The courts now taking place looked stained, worn and worn. But thanks to a $90,000 grant from the United States Tennis Association, they will be completely renovated.

The grant was awarded based on the program’s impact on the community. On Thursday, young children from the community will learn alongside the high school team and players from Alabama A&M University.

“My high school tennis team is more proud and excited knowing that there is a community and an organization that supports them and has their back,” said Al Garrett, executive director of youth development.
