Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU reaches record frequency of 7.5GHz on ASUS ROG Maximus Z890 Apex, memory reaches 12066 MT/s

Overclockers are already breaking world records on the latest Intel platforms, achieving clock speeds of 7.5GHz on the Core Ultra 9 285K CPU.

ASUS ROG Maximus Z890 Apex takes the lead with incredible overclocking potential for CPU and DDR5 memory

Intel has just launched its Core Ultra 200S processors for desktops and overclockers have already started breaking world records. While we’re still in the early stages of overclocking the Core Ultra 200S processors, it looks like the ASUS ROG Maximus Z890 Apex has proven itself worthy of being one of the best Z890 motherboards.

The ROG Maximus Z890 Apex is one of ASUS’ enthusiast-class Z890 motherboards and offers solid performance 27-phase VRM. With the help of advanced cooling solutions, he managed to increase the clock speeds of both the CPU and RAM to insanely high levels, something we’ve never seen before.

ASUS just published a blog post bragging about the numbers its Z890 Apex was able to achieve through overclocking. Overclocker “Elmor” used AI Ln2 Pot from 3D Systems, Diabatix, ElmorLabs, and SkatterBencher to set up a liquid helium cooling solution for the CPU. This meant he was able to achieve a great performance 7488.8MHz the clock speed on the Core Ultra 9 285K.

The Core Ultra 9 285K is Arrow Lake’s flagship chip in the Core Ultra 200S series and features a Turbo Boost frequency of 5.7MHz. So this is a street 1.8GHz jumpwho also broke many world records. In several synthetic benchmarks, the Core Ultra 9 285K at 7.5 GHz achieved the highest values, including the clock itself, as well as the highest values in the 3DMark CPU profiles 1T, 2T, 4T and 8T. ASUS said:

Veterans of the overclocking scene won’t be surprised to learn that these records were achieved with an Apex board on the bench. This motherboard series has an undeniable pedigree. Since the very first model, we have designed Apex motherboards with the sole purpose of helping the world’s most talented overclockers overcome barriers on the way to new records.

As of now, the ROG Maximus Z890 has secured APEX 5 world records19 first places worldwideAnd 31 first places. In addition to the CPU frequency record, the Apex board also contributed to the achievement 60840 points in Cinebench R23 from Benchmark. Additionally, the board also recorded the fastest DDR5 speed ever, breaking the 12000MT/s mark.

The overclocked BenchMarc has successfully overclocked its CUDIMM DDR5 frequency to 12066 MT/swhich is insanely high and even breaks the latest V-Color CUDIMM record of 10600 MT/s on the Gigabyte AORUS Z890 Tachyon ICE. ASUS claims that they were able to reach 10,266 MT/s at CAS 46 themselves, but BenchMarc did an excellent job breaking the 12,000 MT/s mark before anyone else.

The ROG Maximus Z890 Apex only has 2x DIMMs and Gear 2, so a 2:1 ratio instead of Gear 4 for memory, which is the default setting on most Z890 motherboards. According to the benchmarks, ASUS states that this significantly reduces latency and the performance difference is noticeable in both synthetic benchmarks and gaming. However, at the moment we don’t know how well 12,066 MT/s works for gaming, but it is fast.

Typically, world clock speed records are not set for achieving the highest FPS in games, but rather it is more of an enthusiast hobby, which the ROG Maximus Z890 Apex appears to help with.
