Mexico City GP schedule: UK time when you can watch the F1 weekend live on Sky Sports as the 2024 title race gets underway | F1 news

Destination is the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez for the second leg of the F1 triple race in the Americas, as the gripping 2024 season continues this week with the Mexico City Grand Prix.

The sport’s annual visit to one of the world’s most atmospheric racetracks is the middle part of a hat-trick of races on both sides of the US and Brazil and comes on the heels of another thrilling race in Austin where Ferrari ultimately stole the show and title rival Max Verstappen and Lando Norris found themselves at the center of another controversy.

Formula 1 left the Circuit of the Americas with Verstappen holding an increased title lead of 57 points over Norris with five rounds remaining in the hunt for the drivers’ championship, while Ferrari’s one-two suggested they could still make a late run in the constructors’ championship after They had reduced their gap to second-placed Red Bull to just eight points and leaders McLaren to 48.

Verstappen and Red Bull have won in Formula 1’s last three visits to Mexico City, but as in Austin, previous form doesn’t count for much at the moment with the order of leading teams changing regularly from track to track.

And since the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez always presents a unique challenge for F1 teams and engine suppliers as it sits at an altitude of 7,300 feet above sea level, meaning less air flows through the engines, there can never be one in the field or two surprises come to be discounted.

Mexican Sergio Perez is a national icon on home soil and he will be desperately hoping for a long-overdue upturn in form in front of his own fans to not only help Red Bull’s flagging title fight but also try to cement his own future with the team beyond the end of the season.
