Woman resists arrest in Ruston

A Ruston woman was arrested last week after she allegedly damaged property and then resisted and threatened officers who arrested her.

Crystal M. Jones, 27, was arrested around 11 p.m. on Oct. 19 after officers responded to a complaint of property damage at a residence on South Vienna Street.

The victim said Jones kicked in one of the doors, causing a floor tile to come loose. The officers perceived Jones to be belligerent and became angry when an officer attempted to speak to her.

A records check revealed that the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Department had a warrant for Jones’ arrest in the Third Judicial District for failure to appear. The officers had to wrestle with Jones to stop her from kicking her and forcibly restrained her by handcuffing her.

As she was being taken to a patrol car, Jones allegedly threatened to kill two officers and later told the transportation officer, “I’m going to kill your wife and kids, believe me.”

Jones was booked into the Lincoln Parish Detention Center on charges of simple criminal damage to property, resisting an officer, three counts of public intimidation and the warrant.

Bail for the arrest charge was set at $7,000.
