When is the debate? Trump claims September 4th will be the first debate

Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris last week agreed to and confirmed a Sept. 10 debate to be hosted by ABC.

But Trump has since stated on social media that the two will meet for the first time in Harrisburg on September 4th.

So when will the first debate between Harris and Trump take place?

When will Harris debate Trump?

On Thursday evening, Kamala Harris commented: “Well, I’m glad he finally agreed to a debate on September 10th. I’m looking forward to it and hope he shows up.”

She also added that she would be open to discussing further debate dates after this point.

Donald Trump has since claimed that he has accepted invitations from three different news networks to moderate one of the three presidential debates, all scheduled for next month – September 4th, 10th and 25th.

At a recent news conference at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, Trump said it was important to have debates and that he had accepted invitations from NBC News, Fox News and ABC News, according to news reports.

What did Trump say about debates?

Trump published details of this debate plan on his Truth Social account over the weekend.

In his post, he said: “The first debate with Kamala Harris, President of the United States of America, will take place on September 4, 2024 with FoxNews LIVE from beautiful Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The second debate will take place on Fake News ABC, home of George Slopadopoulos, and will be moderated by David Muir at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 10, 2024. The third debate will take place on September 25, 2024 on NBC in Grand Rapids, Michigan moderated by Lester Holt – details to follow. I look forward to seeing Kamala at all three DJTs!

What did Harris say about debates?

The Harris campaign responded that it had not actually agreed to another date at this time.

“We are pleased that Trump has finally agreed to a vice presidential debate on ABC after previously attempting to withdraw. We are open to further debate and will continue these conversations. But to be clear: Any further debate would be up to Trump to actually show up on September 10th. We don’t play his games,” said a Harris campaign aide Newsweek in an email on Sunday morning.
