Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert quietly broke Patrick Mahomes’ record

Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert quietly broke Patrick Mahomes’ record

Lost in the chaos of a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers and in the hail of reactions to the controversial referee at the end of last week’s game against the Arizona Cardinals, Justin Herbert made some history.

According to ESPN’s Kris Rhim, Herbert became the fastest player in NFL history there to reach 1,700 completions, doing so in just 68 games.

Herbert did it a game faster than Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

The lucky recipient of the historic passport? None other than tight end Will Dissly, who passed all Chargers receivers that night with eight catches for 81 yards.

Unfortunately for Herbert and the Chargers, the historic 349 passing yards in a 17-15 loss didn’t matter while the offense settled for five field goals.

Although this record seems a bit random in nature, it shows that Herbert is in good company. Now it’s up to a new Chargers front office and Jim Harbaugh to bring the organization a little more on par with the Chiefs so they don’t waste Herbert’s prime.
