Evacuated resident speaks about the fire in the Holy City

COMANCHE CO, Okla. (KSWO) – Stephanie Crawford was just one of many displaced by the fire that broke out in Holy City, but it wasn’t a first for her.

“We had a fire in the same neighborhood in 2011 and lost our house,” Crawford said. “Knowing that we have to evacuate while a large fire is heading our way is very worrying and concerning. I think I’m still shaking because I just have to do it again.”

For Crawford, protecting the irreplaceable was a priority.

“We can replace property, but you can’t replace animals and your family photos. So those were the two things that were a priority on my list,” Crawford explained.

So she, along with her ten pets, loaded up everything she could to do what any other evacuee can do: wait.

“It is very important to have hope. Hope and your faith in God that God will get us through all of this,” Crawford added. “In a way. Whether we can still keep our houses, and if not, I know with my faith either way that God will take care of us.”
