As of Thursday evening, approximately 25 million Americans had already cast their votes in the upcoming election on November 5th.

In Georgia, 2.2 million people voted early in person and cast over 148,000 mail-in ballots, according to the Georgia Secretary of State.

Today is the last day to request an absentee ballot for this election. Under Georgia law, registered voters can request absentee ballots up to 11 days before Election Day. To be counted, these ballots must arrive at the county election office by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.

However, recent problems with delivery by the U.S. Postal Service have raised concerns about the timely arrival of some ballots. While the USPS has committed to extraordinary measures to ensure ballots are cast, officials are warning absentee voters at the last minute that time may be running out.

CURRENT STORIES

According to state election officials, around 320,000 mail-in ballots have been requested so far, 145,000 of which have already been returned. Voters can submit absentee ballots by mail, drop them off at county election offices or drop them off in designated ballot drop boxes.
