DISTRICT VOLLEYBALL RESULTS FOR OCTOBER 24 & HIGH SCHOOL SCHEDULE FOR OCTOBER 25 | KMMO

The Santa Fe Chiefs bounced back from a first-set loss and rebounded in time to win the next three and beat Concordia on Thursday, Oct. 24 in the Class 1, District 14 volleyball championship at the Orioles- Stadium, defeated 3-1. Floor.

Santa Fe defeated Concordia for the second time in the three games they played against each other in the last 12 days.

Midway through the opening set, the Orioles scored eight straight points, turning a 10-7 deficit into a 15-10 lead before winning 25-19. After that, Santa Fe slowly began to take control, breaking a 7-7 tie to win the second set 25-21.

In sets three and four, a very strong Santa Fe team wore Concordia down as they led for most of the second half and finished the game 25-19 and 25-19.

The win improves the Chiefs’ record to 21-9 on the year, while the Orioles finish at 22-11-1. It is Santa Fe’s fifth district title in the last six seasons and 14th in the last 17 years. Concordia was seeking its first district championship since 2009, but saw its volleyball hopes dashed by Santa Fe for the 11th time in the last 15 seasons.

Santa Fe now plays at home in the Class 1 Sectionals next Thursday night when they face Osceola, which won the District 13 tournament in Lincoln last night with a straight-sets win over Appleton City/Montrose.

On KMMO AM 1300, the Marshall Owls host the Smith-Cotton Tigers with both teams looking for momentum heading into their district tournaments. Both teams are currently 1-7 and in seventh place in their district.

On KMMO-FM 102.9, it’s a rare duel between Lewis and Clark as two of the league’s remaining 11-man teams face off in Huntsville when Salisbury visits Westran. Both teams have already won against Scotland County.
