Football is preparing to travel to Delaware

The team will honor former Great Dane Amitral “AJ” Simon with a special number in every game during the 2024 season.

In April 2024, while preparing for the NFL Draft, Simon was tragically taken from us – sending shockwaves throughout both UAlbany and the football community.

Before each contest in 2024, the UAlbany coaching staff will designate a defensive player to wear the number eight jersey in the game to honor his fallen brother. The person selected will be someone who best embodies Simon’s work ethic and preparation in this week’s practices. The football program will announce its selections on Thursdays before games.

This Saturday, Owen Lawson will have the special honor of wearing number 8 in the game.
