“Stuck in ‘Limbo’” never sounded so good: LadyCouch’s new video is out today

Grateful Web is pleased to present the exclusive premiere of LadyCouchis the official music video for “Limbo” today, October 25th. The Nashville-based 12-piece ensemble continues to push the boundaries of rock and soul, delivering a dynamic sound that is both innovative and deeply rooted in musical tradition.

Enter the “Limbo”

Written during a late-night drive after a raucous Phish afterparty in Atlantic City, “Limbo” captures the essence of feeling stuck between where you are and where you want to be. Singer and percussionist Keshia Bailey wrote the song in the band’s Sprinter van as the city lights faded in the distance. The track imagines Limbo as a bench with an endless queue, a metaphor for life’s uncertainties and the sweet oblivion that comes when “your soul can’t be relieved”.

Adding to the rich texture of the song, Mike Harris And Cory Younts from Old Crow Medicine Show Guitar and mandolin contribute and provide a southern flair that complements LadyCouch’s robust sound.

A video full of Nashville spirit

The music video for “Limbo” is a celebration of community and camaraderie. It features a humorous cameo appearance by Preston Evans from Acme Radio Live, who is replacing LadyCouch Allen Thompson.

“It’s been an inside joke in Nashville for a long time that Preston and I are lookalikes,” says Thompson. “LadyCouch has always been a reflection of the music community, and we wanted to embrace that idea – and have some fun – with Preston representing me on the video shoot.”

Formed in 2017 at the legendary Exit/In, LadyCouch is led by the powerful duo Keshia Bailey And Allen Thompson. Bailey, a direct descendant of the jazz icon Bessie Smithbrings a vocal power of nature that perfectly complements Thompson’s authentic belt and Appalachian growl.

“As our city changes, we all change with it,” Bailey says of the band’s growth. LadyCouch has spent the better part of the last decade honing a unique sound driven by collaboration and a shared vision.

“We knew we were all going to be making music together for a very long time, but it’s pretty damn impressive that we’re all still growing together,” Bailey adds.
