ORANGEBURG, SC (WIS) – A three-year-old girl received temporary treatment after her foot was injured in a shooting in Orangeburg.

According to the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office, a unit responded to Marlboro Street on Tuesday to multiple reports of shots fired in the area.

An incident report said the girl’s father said he and his two children were watching television and the mother was sleeping in the bedroom when the shooting began.

Officials said the 3-year-old was temporarily treated by Orangeburg County EMS for a gunshot wound and was taken to MUSC Orangeburg for further evaluation.

When the shooting stopped, the father told officers he immediately rushed outside to identify the shooter but couldn’t see anything. He also said he had not had any arguments with anyone and was unaware of anyone who wanted to harm him or his family.

According to the report, officers found multiple shell casings ranging from assault rifles to handguns scattered throughout the home, leading to the residence and the street.

Officials said the home sustained extensive damage to both the exterior and interior, estimated at about $5,000.

The case was referred to the Orangeburg County Criminal Investigation Division.
