Silent Hill 2 update released today fixes “critical issue”

The Silent Hill 2 Bloober Team and Konami’s Remake received an update a few days ago shortly after release to fix some issues players have been facing since release. However, shortly after, another issue was discovered that appears to have been introduced by the update itself and has been resolved Silent Hill 2 Developers pose a “critical” issue that could prevent players from progressing in the game. Today another update has now been released to address this issue, along with a new feature, but this feature is only for those playing on PC.

The Silent Hill 2 The hotfix released today on Friday is largely focused on progress blocking saves for the new PC feature that enables cloud saves on Steam, so the patch notes for the update are quite brief. The issue in question that players addressed the maze section of the game with these patch notes confirms that the progression issue is indeed related to patch 1.04. Luckily, patch 1.05 fixes the problem.

Silent Hill 2 Notes on patch 1.04

corrections

Maze progression blocker

  • Fixed an issue where players who saved their game in the labyrinth after Toluca Prison in the previous version encountered a progression blocker when loading the save data after the Patch 1.04 update. We have implemented a fix by adding a protection measure that forces the required triggers to be properly activated, ensuring smooth progress.

Features

Steam cloud saves

  • We’ve enabled Steam Cloud support for PC players on Steam®. Please note that the game will automatically sync with the latest cloud save data. If the cloud storage is more recent than the local storage, the local data will be overwritten without a warning message. We recommend players back up their local saves if they want to keep multiple versions.

Considering these are the only cleanup issues that needed to be addressed in the recent past Silent Hill 2 Update, this further speaks to the success of the Silent Hill 2 New edition. It’s already highly regarded, much to the surprise of those who doubted Bloober Team after some mediocre games in the past The medium which has helped fuel interest in the developer’s new game of the name Cronos: The New Dawn. Bloober Team itself has not been unaware of these previous criticisms and is committed to continuing to create stronger games in the future.

You can check out our review of Silent Hill 2 Here with a snippet of it below to show what that is Silent Hill 2 The remake felt like it was from the perspective of someone who hadn’t experienced the original, being a newcomer to the series.

“As a Silent Hill 2 newbie, I was so impressed with this new remake. “Bloober Team so faithfully captured the spirit of games from that early PS2 era that it took me back to memory lane and made me want to go back and play more games from that era,” reads an excerpt from our review. “To that end, I have a strong desire to return to the original Silent Hill 2 and see how it fits with this remake. While I can’t say how long-time SH2 fans will receive this remastered version of the game, for anyone else who has never played the Silent Hill games, this is a perfect starting point.”
