ACTION 8 UPDATE: A man charged in a fatal shooting in Autauga County in 2022 has been found not guilty, according to his attorney.

Attorney Richard White represented defendant Jermichael Nixon of Autaugaville. The trial took place this week in Autauga County.

After a three-day trial, White said the jury found Nixon not guilty on all three counts – murder, second-degree assault and shooting into an occupied building.

As Action 8 News reported, the shooting occurred on the night of Saturday, March 12, 2022. According to police, an SUV approached the intersection of North Pickett Street and Tyus Street in Autaugaville. Shots were fired from the SUV at a convivial crowd. According to investigators, several pedestrians returned fire.

One of the people hit, 22-year-old Cameron Motley of Autaugaville, was flown to a hospital in Montgomery and then transferred to a hospital in Birmingham, where he died. Three others were injured.

A second person has been charged in the case. Cedric Maurice Long, 28, of Elmore County, has been charged with murder, second-degree assault and firearm assault on an inhabited dwelling. Court records show he is awaiting trial.
