Worcester Tech’s FFA debate team brings home national awards from the convention in Indianapolis

NEWARK, Md. – Five Worcester Technical High School students are returning home with honors after traveling to the National Future Farmers of America (FFA) Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Congratulations to the Worcester Tech FFA debate team. The five students competed in the Congress’ Agricultural Forum and took third place. Their debate topic was “Impact of White-tailed Deer Populations on Agricultural Profits.”

We were told it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the talented students.

In a Facebook post, Worcester Tech FFA said, “This team has been practicing since February, meeting with various groups/forums, presenting, changing their presentation and supporting each other while away from home.”

And these are by no means the students’ only successes this year. In June, Worcester Tech was honored at the 96th Annual Maryland FFA State Convention.

During this meeting, state FFA officials announced the top teams and individuals from the career and leadership development events. The Worcester Tech team took first place in the state version of the Agricultural Forum. Winning this competition allowed the team to take part in the major competition in Indianapolis.
