Exclusive: Levi Hummon Calls Himself a “Warm Cookies Artist” and Shares Racey’s New Video

Levi Hummon revs up his engine with his new music video for his song “Bet On Me.”

Hummon shot the clip on a dirt road in Middle Tennessee and is particularly excited because it feels like his first real music video years into his career.

“They legitimately got race cars and raced at the Duck River race track, which was crazy,” said Hummon, a Nashville native and son of hit songwriter Marcus Hummon.

Hummon recently signed with Jonas Group’s Red Van Records, but was an independent artist for many years before that. He was used to making music videos on a small budget. With his new label he has the financial support to fully realize his creative vision.

In the video, the race team even put its Levi Hummon logo on the car with Barstool Sports, which he called “one of the coolest things ever.”

The video “Bet On Me” follows the story of a losing racer. His father is the only one who relies on him. And when he finally wins, his father wins big too. Hummon’s father, Marcus Hummon, who wrote “Bless The Broken Road” for Rascal Flatts, was set to appear as a father in the video. However, the Hummon men were unable to balance their schedules.

Levi Hummon calls Dad first

“I was like, ‘What the fuck?'” the youngest Hummon joked about not being able to book his dad for the shoot. Instead, he hired a man who looks like Coach Dan Campbell of the Lions to do the video.
However, his father is still the singer’s favorite advisor.

“The first person I sent music to was my dad,” Hummon said. “We just got these mixes back the other day and I just sent everything over. And whether it’s a father-son thing or whether I just trust the guy, everything feels like a collaboration with him because he’s my filter system for everything music-related.”

TikTok also seems to agree. The singer said “Bet On Me” has become successful on TikTok, which is a good sign. Overnight last week, the number of videos using the song grew by thousands.

“It seems like the fans are starting to love it,” he said. “But I love all the music and we’ve been in the studio recording a lot, including three or four more songs that will be coming very soon. I’m a warm cookie artist, so anything fresh out of the oven is my favorite thing.”

The Hummon Men have a lot to offer music fans right now. Marcus released his new single “I Never Saw a Moor” earlier this month and has a new Emily Dickinson-inspired EP called “Songs For Emily” due out November 15th. Last month, Levi released his latest EP, “Bet On Me.”

“My dad is so smart and has so much to offer this world, and the music he puts out is so beautiful,” Hummon said.

While the eldest Hummon couldn’t make it to his son’s video shoot, he co-wrote Levi’s new song “Make It Love” with his son and Andrew Dorff.

“Working with your dad is, in my opinion, one of the coolest things in the world,” Levi said.
