Phoenix hits another record high; expect another record breaker on Saturday

PHOENIX (AZFamily) – A new record high was reached this Friday to end a warmer-than-average week here in October.

Phoenix reached 97 degrees shortly after 2 p.m., breaking the old record of 96 degrees set in 1990 and 2014.

Expect record-breaking heat again on Saturday as this ridge of high pressure continues to dominate the forecast through Sunday.

The only thing that will keep us below 100 degrees will be the clouds created by the departure of Hurricane Kristy, which is moving in from the west.

Winds will become stronger across the country on Sunday and Monday as we move into a new weather pattern.

With highs still in the low 90s on Monday, a large low pressure area and cold front will lower our highs to the upper 70s on Tuesday and Wednesday as the cold front moves through.

Expect windy conditions here in the valley along this front.

Halloween high temperatures are expected to be around 80 degrees, with trick-or-treating temperatures in the 70s and 60s Thursday evening.

Snow amounts in northern Arizona are still slightly higher. The chance of rain and then snow is highest on Tuesday.
