Ben Shapiro was left speechless after battling 25 Harris voters

Conservative pundit and provocateur Ben Shapiro took on 25 supporters of Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris in a debate video released Thursday.

Posted on Jubilee’s YouTube channel as part of this Surrounded seriesShapiro sat in the middle of a circle, presented his arguments – and let the room challenge them, one claim at a time.

The first point of discussion was Shapiro’s claim that Harris’ efforts to prioritize diversity, equity and inclusion in her politics were “destructive.”

When asked by a supporter why centering DEI was a “destructive thing,” Daily Wire co-founder Shapiro called it a “failure of logic” that “separates groups by race.”

He added: “This is actually not the best way to bring Americans together.”

The exchange was mostly cordial, with Shapiro responding calmly with a litany of conservative talking points. However, he was visibly shaken by a trans man’s comments about men experiencing pregnancy, sexual assault and access to abortion rights.

“I experienced it [sexual assault] and abortion rights affect me directly,” the man explained. “So if we’re talking about the American dream that you’re living, why don’t I have access to it? Because there is no law in the history of America that governs a man’s body. Then why does mine have to be regulated by law?”

“I have a vagina,” the man added, to which a nervous Shapiro replied, “Um, I don’t care what your genitals are.”

“Of course you are, I mean it’s because of everything you do, buddy,” the man replied in turn.

The rest of the discussion revolved around the Israel-Gaza war, benefits for asylum seekers and Donald Trump’s non-commitment to the peaceful transfer of power.

“He should have spoken sooner, I agree,” Shapiro said of Trump as he addressed the moments leading up to the Jan. 6 insurrection. He added that he “will not defend his behavior.” But he still wants Trump to be president.

Shapiro wasn’t the only conservative willing to sit in the hot seat and have his views challenged. In September, Charlie Kirk, the conservative founder of Turning Point USA, competed against 25 college students and achieved similar results, leading to several viral social media moments. (One of the students featured in this video later debated a group of 20 Trump supporters, because of course content begets content.)

At the end of the debate, Shapiro called the whole exercise “a lot of fun.”

“Aside from a few minor incidents, I think everyone was in a good mood and wanted to have a fun conversation,” he said. “There are a lot of smart people in the circle and it’s fun to hear what they have to say.”
