Weather in Chicago: It’s an autumnal weekend ahead and record warmth returns next week

The weather is expected to be calm over the weekend. Tonight will be clear and cool with lows in the upper 30s and lower 40s.

Plan for sunny skies Saturday with high temperatures in the upper 50s. Sunday will see some warmer air with sunny skies and highs in the lower 60s.

A big warm-up is expected next week, with record warmth possible through Tuesday. Monday will be nice with partly sunny skies and high temperatures in the upper 60s. Tuesday will be windy and warm, with high temperatures expected to climb to near 80 degrees. Tuesday’s record high temperature was 78 degrees, setting it back to 1999.

Wednesday will remain dry most of the day with windy conditions and highs in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees. Showers are possible Wednesday evening and overnight as a cold front approaches the area. This cold front will bring cooler air on Halloween.

Thursday will start with showers and temperatures in the 60s. Cooler air will build in throughout the day, with temperatures expected to fall into the upper 50s by midday and into the afternoon. Skies should be dry in the afternoon/evening for trick-or-treaters.
