2024 World Aquatics Swimming World Cup – Incheon Day 3 Prelims Live Summary

2024 World Aquatics Swimming World Cup – Incheon Day 3 Prelims Live Summary

WORLD AQUATICS SWIMMING WORLD CUP 2024 – INCHEON

There have already been several world records at the 2024 World Cup, with one each set by the Americans on the first two days in Incheon Kate Douglass And Regan Smith. Both swimmers are expected to compete again on day three, along with the newly crowned 50 butterfly world record holder Noe PontiThere will definitely be spraying on the last day of the action.

After breaking the world record in the 100m backstroke on day two, Smith will look to challenge it Kaylee McKeownThe world record for the 200 backstroke is 1:58.94. At the final stop of this series in Shanghai, Smith won the event about two seconds off McKeown’s mark, but she has already proven here that she is much faster.

Douglass competes in both the 50 butterfly and 200 IM and is the gold medal favorite in both events. On day one, Douglass dropped the hammer in the 200 breaststroke, breaking Rebecca Soni’s 2009 world record.

After breaking his world record in the event, Ponti will compete in the 50-meter butterfly again. At the previous stop in Shanghai, Ponti posted a WR of 21.67 in the prelims before hitting just 0.01 of that time in the finals. Given his consistency in this event, that record will likely remain in jeopardy for the rest of the series.

There will also be a lot of excitement at the other events. Particularly in the men’s 400 m IM event, where he held the long distance world record Leon Marchand will compete against the SCM world record holder Daiya Seto. Although Marchand won the event in Shanghai, he was significantly slower than expected, swimming a time of 4:00.03. After Seto last ran a time of 3:59.79 in the 400 m IM run at a national competition, the race is likely to be very close.
