Top 25 Showdowns highlight week eight schedule

The Week 8 schedule is packed with matchups that will impact the national rankings, conference championship races and the highly anticipated regional rankings, which will be announced for the first time next Monday. Saturday will be highlighted by five matchups of top 25 teams in five different conferences. Here’s your game day viewing guide.

No. 1 Grand Valley State (7-0) vs. No. 4 Ferris State (6-1) 3:00

Notes: Grand Valley State took over the top spot in D2football.com’s Top 25 this week and must defend its new ranking against its closest rival, Ferris State. The game, known as the Anchor-Bone Classic, kicks off at 3:00 p.m. East Coast at Lubbers Stadium.

No. 6 Central Oklahoma (7-0) vs. No. 3 Pitt State (6-1) 3:00

Notes: Central Oklahoma is the last team to remain undefeated in MIAA play. A win in the Jungle would give the Bronchos solid control of the MIAA championship.

No. 8 Harding (6-1) vs. No. 25 Southern Arkansas (6-1) 4:00

Harding lost for the first time in 25 games at Ouachita Baptist last Saturday night. The Bisons will look to get back on track against newly ranked Southern Arkansas.

No. 9 Minnesota State (6-1) vs. No. 20 Augustana (5-2) 2:00

NSIC heavyweights Minnesota State and Augustand will meet to see who retains first place in the NSIC standings. These two teams met twice in 2023, once in the regular season and again in the playoffs. Augustana won both meetings decisively.
