“Only Murders in the Building’s latest killer reveal is the best yet.”

Season 4 of Just murders in the building may have had the most convoluted murder mystery in the series so far. With a variety of suspects from the west side of The Arconia and the Hollywood film that adapted the podcast, there were dozens of clues and red herrings. It was very difficult to find out who Sazz Patakis (Jane Lynch) could potentially be a murderer, especially given the fact that there are just so many suspects.

This season did a lot of things differently than previous seasons. There was the start of the mid-season shootout and the potential of the killer targeting Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short) and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez). There was also the revelation of Dudenoff’s (Griffin Dunne) Body with Sazzs in the incinerator, which turned out to be a dead end. Most fascinating were the flashbacks to the many plot holes from the first season that still haven’t been fixed. Season 4, Episode 9, “Escape from Planet Klongo” answered the most important question of the season: Who killed Sazz Pataki? The answer is Marshall P. Pope, formerly known as Rex Bailey.

How is Marshall revealed to be Sazz’s murderer in Season 4 of “Only Murder in the Building”?

One of the Westies, Helga (Alexandra Templar), just revealed that Sazz told her he was a stuntman in the film Project Ronkonkoma would mean her death. The episode slowly paints a picture of the stuntman, who was apparently also Sazz’s protégé before. After hitting him with her car, Sazz began mentoring the mysterious protégé. The trio tries to track down Ron Howard They want to ask him about the stuntman, but they can’t reach him.

Finally, Charles and Oliver meet Ron Howard in a restaurant, who tells them about the stuntman. He says that this person accidentally singed off his eyebrows and that’s why he fired him. Later, The stuntman stole Ron Howard’s shoesso he had to get a new, identical pair. In fact, the bottom of Ron Howard’s shoes matches the shoe print from the day Glen Stubbins (Paul Rudd) was shot, confirming that the protégé was the murderer who shot Sazz from Dudenoff’s apartment. Ron Howard shows them a picture of Rex Bailey, and although he looks a little different, it is clearly Marshall.

Why did Marshall Pope kill Sazz Pataki in Only Murders in the Building?
