Local woman sentenced to seven years in prison for allegedly making phone threats against public officials

A local woman was sentenced to seven years in prison Friday for allegedly threatening an officer via cell phone.

According to the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office, Alicia Arredondo was found guilty of retaliation by a Bexar County jury on October 10.

Today, the same jury sentenced Arredondo to seven years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

According to official documents, Arredondo threatened an officer via cell phone in retaliation for their role in prosecuting her son, who is currently incarcerated in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

The threats were recorded in voicemails from Arredondo on November 2, 2022. In the voicemail she stated: “We are after you and your family, so look both ways.”

“We must protect our employees who work tirelessly to uphold the law and keep the community safe,” Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales said in a news release. “This sentencing sends a clear message that threats and intimidation will occur against every employee of the Bexar County District.” Law firms or other officials will not be tolerated.

The trial was presided over by 175th District Court Judge Torres-Stahl. The Public Integrity and Cybercrime Unit was responsible for the prosecution.
