Greyhounds and Prairie Stars play to a 0-0 draw

INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy men’s soccer team tied Illinois-Springfield 0-0 on Friday night.

This is the first time the Greyhounds have drawn since their 2023 GLVC Championship duel against UIS, a game in which UIndy ultimately won on penalties. There were a total of 26 fouls in this game, 13 by each team. These fouls resulted in a total of six cards, five yellows and one red card.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hounds started the first half quickly and had a handful of chances. The Hounds had three goals disallowed for offside in the first 25 minutes, including two Lucas Bedleg and a header from Bobby Turner.

However, the first half took a turn when UIndy became head coach in the 26th minute Gabe Hall received a straight red card from the referee.

UIS capitalized on the momentum by creating their own chances throughout the remainder of the half. The biggest chance came in the 39th minute when the Prairie Stars Or Levinstein broke away to score and forced a big save Ionas Giovanidis to keep the score at zero.

UIS’s next best chance came just six minutes later when Delphy Sabu’s header sailed just over the crossbar and the score remained 0-0 as the teams went into halftime.

UIndy got back into the swing of things early in the second half with seven shots, including one on goal Kabiru Gafarbut they failed to break through and score.

Alvaro Sanchez The best performance of the second half came in the 77th minute with an attempt at goal that went just wide, leaving the score tied.

Since there were very few chances as the game progressed, the game between UIndy and the Prairie Stars ended 0-0.

– The Hounds recorded their second-highest total shots of the season with 23, but only six of them were on the frame.
