Pittsford haunted house raises money for fire department

PITTSFORD, Vt. (WCAX) – Thousands travel to Pittsford every Halloween to visit one of the oldest haunted houses right in the town of Pittsford.

The 41st annual fundraiser for the Pittsford Fire Department is one of the most popular and oldest haunted houses in Vermont. Thanks to the help of over 100 volunteers, people from all over the area wait in line, only to be scared.

The old house near the city office was once a children’s hospital. Now volunteers keep the spooky tradition coming back and look forward to the bonding it creates.

“It can be a challenge but it’s definitely worth it because there’s a lot for people that I don’t see outside of here, even though they still live right in the city, but if you come back next year it is “It’s like running into family again… It’s a very good thing for the community, it’s a good thing for the people that come in and help, and we just want to come in and scare you,” Kevin Carleton said from Pittsford.

The haunted house’s final night will be Saturday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults and $5 for children.
