Record warmth is possible today, with showers coming tonight

COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) — Get ready for some weather whiplash this weekend!

Today will be unseasonably warm for this time of year with highs in the mid to upper 80s.

Both Columbia and Orangeburg are forecast to break record highs set in 2014 today.

A cold front will arrive this evening bringing some big changes.

Scattered showers are possible late evening into Sunday morning.

These are most likely to occur in the North Midlands but cannot be ruled out across the area.

The sky will also be cloudy for the first time in a while from tonight into Sunday.

These cloudy skies combined with a northeast breeze that can blow up to 25 mph will result in highs only in the 60s and low 70s.

Sunshine returns on Monday and should last throughout next week.

Highs will warm into the 70s on Monday and Tuesday, followed by the low 80s on Wednesday and Halloween.
