X Payments is unlikely to launch without New York

It seems possible that X has remained silent on X Payments as there is currently no timeline.

Daniela Hawkins, a global payments expert at technology consulting firm Capco, told Ars that, as an outsider, she asked for a “gut check” about whether .. that seems to be a barrier to entering the payments market.”

X could launch X Payments without New York and other states, but Hawkins said users may be confused about where they can and cannot send money. Hawkins thinks it’s unlikely that Musk – who co-founded PayPal and has since wanted to launch his own payments app – would introduce X Payments “half-heartedly.”

If Hawkins said inconsistencies could discourage widespread use of the payments feature because “it is too difficult for the consumer to understand.”

“If you handcuff it out, it’s going to get off to a rocky start,” Hawkins said. “So why would you do that?”

Going that route appears to risk users abandoning X in favor of processing payments through apps where every transaction is processed reliably, Hawkins suggested.

“They’ll say, ‘Wait, I don’t know where that Etsy shop is, I don’t care,” Hawkins said, noting, “That’s just a bad user experience.”
