Fire near Zim damages buildings and property

Several fire departments responded to a fire near Zim on Friday evening.

Northland Firewire was on scene as the fire raged and was whipped up by strong winds.

This is on the 8200 block of Stone Lake Road. The call came in on Friday evening around 6:50 p.m. Northland Firewire tells us there are multiple structures threatened and damaged, a home, a mobile home, a boathouse and a boat, all near the fire.

There are several homes and cabins along this section of Stone Lake Road. Stone Lake is located approximately 4 miles east of Zim and approximately 15 miles south of Eveleth.

The state fire department was called in to investigate.
