Pitt County shooting investigation leads to two arrests and firearm seizure

Two Washington men have been arrested following an investigation into a shooting in Pitt County.

The shooting occurred at 220 Jimmy Ln. on October 9th, was investigated for two weeks. According to officials, detectives from the Gang and Gun, Special Operations and Major Crime Units, along with deputies from the Uniform Patrol Unit, executed a search warrant on Marva Dr. in Pitt County, Washington.

As a result of the search warrant, 19-year-old Zyere Godley was arrested in connection with the shooting.

Godley was accused of:

  • Firing a weapon into an inhabited property
  • crime conspiracy
  • Violation of personal property

Godley was denied bail and is being held at the Pitt County Detention Center.

Dominic Maurizzio, 23, was also arrested and charged with:

  • Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver Marijuana

According to a press release, Dominic was initially denied bail pending charges stemming from an unrelated shooting in Wake County in September 2022. He was granted a $5,000 secured bond at an initial hearing later that morning. He has not posted bail and remains in custody at the Pitt County Detention Center.

During a search of the apartment, investigators seized several firearms, large amounts of ammunition, large amounts of gun parts and 35.3 grams of marijuana. More charges are expected.
