MFD responds to room fire at Super 8 Thursday evening | News, sports, jobs

CONTRIBUTED PHOTO – The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a fire at the Super 8 on South Center Street Thursday evening. No injuries were reported.

The Marshalltown Fire Department was dispatched to the Super 8 Motel at 3315 S. Center St. around 9:15 p.m. Thursday evening for a report of a fire in one of the rooms. Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from a second-story window, according to a news release.

Firefighters entered the building and discovered a small fire at the foot of a bed in a guest room. The fire was quickly brought under control using a pressurized water extinguisher. Firefighters were on scene for about two hours.

The motel was evacuated during the incident, but no injuries were reported from the fire. Following the incident, the motel resumed normal operations. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
