NDSU men’s golf 3rd place after first day in Mexico

MONTERREY, Mexico – The North Dakota State men’s golf team opened the Monterrey Collegiate Classic at Club Campestre Monterrey on Friday, sitting in third place overall at -10 at halftime.

The Bison played the first 27 of 54 holes of the event with an opening round of -8, followed by -2 through nine holes in the second round. The Bison are three shots off the lead, held by Loyola Maryland (-13).

Rylin Petry After day one, the Bison are in the lead and are in a tie for seventh overall at -4. Petry opened with a 70 (-2) in the first round and lost two more shots in the first nine holes of the second round.

Josh Galvin And Ian Simonich are a shot back in a draw for 11Th in total. Both golfers led NDSU with a first-round 69 and were -3. The duo tied the first nine holes of the second round.

Jake Skarperud Finished the scoring for NDSU in the first round with an even-par 72. Skarperud remains even on the second day, tied at 28 pointsTh total in the 73 golfer field.

Gabe Benson is at 44Th overall at +2. Benson shot a 74 in the opening round, but has held his own so far in the second round, even shooting through nine holes. Max Wilsonwho plays as a single player is ranked 47thTh overall at +3. Wilson shot -1 in round one but is +4 on the first nine holes of round two.

The Bison will close the event on Saturday with the final 27 holes at Club Campestre Monterrey.
