2024 World Aquatics Swimming World Cup Series – Incheon Day 3 Finals Live Recap

WORLD AQUATICS SWIMMING WORLD CUP 2024 – INCHEON

Start list for the final of day 3

It’s the final session of the Incheon stop of the 2024 World Cup Series and the race for the top spot is on.

Kate Douglass won the Shanghai stop and appeared to be on track to take the crown again here, but did not show up for the 200 IM prelims this morning. This was her final individual event of the stop, meaning she sits at 59.2 points. That gives other Americans Regan Smith a chance to sneak past and improve on their overall silver from Shanghai. The newly crowned 100 m backstroke SCM world record holder is competing in the 200 m backstroke. (A more detailed breakdown of the points system can be found here.)

On the men’s side Pieter Coetze currently leads the table. He won both the 50m and 200m backstroke and has a chance to do it in the 100m backstroke tonight. He has to prevail against tough competition, including top seeds Kacper Stokowski and LCM world record holder Thomas Ceccon. Regardless of who secures overall victory, there will definitely be a change in the top five once the 200-mile classification has been determined. Caspar Corbeau, Qin HaiyangAnd Ilya Shymanovich are only 2.4 points apart, so it depends on the finishing order.

We’ll see Leon Marchand in action to open the session. After losing both the 200 breast and 200 free this morning, he’s all-in on the 400 IM. A win there could take him back to the top of the rankings after he won the overall in Shanghai. Last time he was at the front of the field, but he was the world record holder Daiya Seto has come into play.

Another exciting race to watch out for is the men’s 50 meter race Noe Ponti is the top seed. He broke the world record at the final stop and was the only swimmer to break 22 seconds this morning.

In addition to the women’s 100 fly, 50 breast, 100 free and 200 IM, the men’s 800 free and 200 free will also take place tonight.
