Martin Scorsese’s Beatles documentary will be released on Disney+ in November

The Beatles’ trip to America in 1964 is documented in a new documentary from producer Martin Scorsese and director David Tedeschi.

The film, titled Beatles ’64, will be released on Disney+ on November 29th and features never-before-seen footage of the band and their legions of young fans at the height of Beatlemania. It also includes new interviews with the two surviving Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.

More of diversity

The documentary follows McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Starr as they land in New York City in February 1964, cementing their status as the biggest band in the world. “Beatles ’64” promises to tell “a more intimate behind-the-scenes story” of the Fab Four when they debut on “The Ed Sullivan Show” to more than 73 million viewers, which was the most-watched television event of all time at the time.

“Beatles ’64” features rare footage filmed by documentarians Albert and David Maysles, restored in 4K by Park Road Post in New Zealand.

In addition to Scorsese, Margaret Bodde, McCartney, Starr, Olivia Harrison, Sean Ono Lennon, Jonathan Clyde and Mikaela Beardsley are producing, with Jeff Jones and Rick Yorn serving as executive producers.

This isn’t Scorsese’s first foray into Beatle land. In 2011 he made George Harrison: Living in the Material World, a documentary about the Liverpool guitarist’s life and his travels to India. Scorsese has also directed music documentaries about Bob Dylan and the band.

A week before the Nov. 22 release of “Beatles ’64,” seven American Beatles albums will be reissued in a vinyl collection titled “The Beatles: 1964 US Albums in Mono.” The box contains albums that have been out of print on vinyl since 1995, including “Meet The Beatles!”, “The Beatles’ Second Album,” “A Hard Day’s Night (Original Motion Picture Sound Track),” “Something New,” “The Beatles’ Story (2LP)”, “Beatles ’65” and “The Early Beatles”.
