Montgomery County man intentionally rammed vehicle, throwing it into building

A St. Johnsville man was arrested Wednesday after authorities said he intentionally struck a vehicle and crashed it into a building.

New York State Police arrested Raymond W. Matis, 53, on charges of third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief and two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, according to a news release.

Police said they responded to reports of a disturbance in the area of ​​State Route 67 in Ephratah around 8:03 a.m. Wednesday morning. Through investigation, authorities determined that Matis drove his vehicle there and intentionally struck an unoccupied vehicle in the parking lot and pushed it into a building. Matis is then said to have entered the building without permission and used a bat to damage items inside. While the troopers were en route, Matis is accused of approaching another occupied vehicle and striking it several times with the bat.

No injuries were reported.

Matis was arrested at the scene and transported to Fonda State Police for processing. He was then taken to the Fulton Court Correctional Facility to await arraignment, according to authorities.
