Family displaced by early morning fire; Red Cross helps with finding accommodation

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (KCTV) – A house fire left a family displaced early on the morning of October 26th.

Overland Park and Leawood fire departments were called to 95th and Horton streets just after 2 a.m. Upon arrival, emergency services reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the garage and first floor of the two-story single-family home.

All family members left the house safely. While the fires were extinguished, crews made sure no one was inside.

It took firefighters just over an hour to completely extinguish the fire. The home sustained significant smoke and fire damage and one resident suffered a minor burn which was treated at the scene.

The Red Cross is supporting the family with accommodation. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
