Wawrinka in Basel; Thiem in Vienna

This week’s 500-level events in Basel, Switzerland and Vienna, Austria will see two of the game’s most popular players potentially competing for the last time.

In Basel, Stan Wawrinka will play the 500-level event for what will be poetically the last time in his home country. The 39-year-old, who has three majors, is currently ranked 236th in the world. In 2014 it even came in third place.

Former US Open winner Dominic Thiem will play his home game for the last time in Vienna. Thiem has been plagued by injuries in recent years and is currently ranked 275th in the world.

Wimbledon champion Krejcikova in Japan

This year’s Wimbledon winner Barbora Krejcikova will be present at the 500 meter race in Tokyo, Japan.

Krejcikova won her second career major title earlier this year and is joined by top seeds Jessica Pegula, Naomi Osaka and Olympic gold medalist Qinwen Zheng.

The 250-level event at the Guangzhou Open in China will feature Magda Linette and defending champion Xiyu Wang.
