Emergency services extinguish a building fire in Hemstreet Park at night

Nearly a dozen fire departments were deployed to help control a fire that broke out at a Hemstreet Park residence Saturday evening, fire officials told CBS6.

Crews responded around 3 a.m. to 112 South Pearl Street, where units reportedly found a complex fully engulfed in flames. Hemstreet Park Fire Chief George Conover said the first two units on scene were able to extinguish the fire while other units continued to arrive for help.

The Hemstreet Park, Johnsonville, Melrose, Speigletown, Schaghticoke, Saratoga County, Mechanicville, Arvin Hart, Round Lake and Hillcrest fire departments responded, in addition to the Hoosic Valley Rescue Squad, Conover told CBS6. A total of around 30 firefighters were on site.

Officials said all people and animals were removed from the home unharmed. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist those whose home was left with significant fire and smoke damage, emergency responders reported.

Although the fire is believed to be an accident, the cause is still under investigation.
