LNP wins and will form government, but majority is not yet secured; David Crisafulli becomes Prime Minister

David Crisafulli has claimed the LNP’s victory in Queensland, suggesting the party will form a majority government.

“(Queenslanders) voted for a new beginning and they voted for an LNP government,” he said.

He thanked outgoing Prime Minister Steven Miles for his services as well as his family.

“Politics is a really tough game and it’s the families who bear the scars,” he said.

“To the people of this great state where I have lived and worked on both ends and I love every inch of it.”

“I want to let them know that we will provide them with every ounce of fiber we have and that we will ensure this state returns to being the powerhouse we know it can be.”

“Elections are about people and doing good for people who don’t have a voice.”

He said history will show that tonight will be the “tipping point” for crime, health, housing and the cost of living in the state.

“It will take every day of these four years to address these four crises,” he said.

“My vision for Queensland is for us to continue building the infrastructure we once had in this great state.

“I want to take another look at Queensland, where people want to invest, where they can afford to live and where this state is returning to the country’s economic powerhouse.”
