The Destin High School principal releases a statement regarding the student injured in a crash

DESTIN, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Several students were reportedly hospitalized after an accident Friday night in Destin.

One of those students will be attending Destin High School on Saturday. The principal of Destin High School released the following statement:

Dear shark families:

I would like to provide you with an update on last night’s car accident in Destin that sent one of our students to the hospital. I personally visited the student and his father in the hospital last night and promised that his favorite foods would be waiting for him as soon as he got out of surgery.

The multi-car crash also resulted in students from the South Walton area being hospitalized. I was told that these students are being treated at hospitals on the Gulf Coast.

This news caused great harm to our school community, especially students and staff, as false rumors quickly circulated online. Our Shark Advisory Team will be on campus on Monday to assist any students or staff who require additional support. I will personally coordinate support for the student’s family as needed.

I ask that you keep the affected families, as well as our Sharks and Seahawk community, in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Dr. Diane Kelley, principal
