Ankalaev has been at the top of the rankings at 205 pounds for some time, but UFC CEO Dana White has not given him a second chance to fight for the belt after an unsavory performance against Jan Blachowicz in 2022 resulted in a draw. Ankalaev will need to impress against a strong opponent with tremendous power on Saturday to potentially secure a shot against Alex Pereira in 2025.
