Finance Minister discusses collaboration with IFC to support private sector

Finance Minister of the Government of National Accord Khalid Al-Mabrouk discussed with International Finance Corporation (IFC) Vice President for Africa Sergio Pamenta on improving joint cooperation between the IFC and Libya in several areas, with a focus on benefits was from the IFC’s experience in supporting the role of the private sector in strengthening and diversifying the national economy.

This came during a meeting on Thursday on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in the US capital Washington DC, where both sides discussed the importance of strengthening partnerships with local and international investors to support small and medium-sized businesses, as well as the importance of Building a strong partnership between the public and private sectors.

They emphasized the need to support Libyan public and private institutions through capacity building, knowledge and expertise transfer, and sharing IFC’s successful experiences in other countries.

Meanwhile, both sides agreed to organize a forum on strengthening the role of the private sector in diversifying the Libyan economy, with the participation of the IFC, in order to strengthen relations with relevant Libyan institutions and enhance joint cooperation.
