Maple Leafs overtake Habs, Stars prevent Jets from making history at Best Bets on Saturday

Maple Leafs overtake Habs, Stars prevent Jets from making history at Best Bets on Saturday

There’s a lot of NHL action on Saturday, which should give us plenty of opportunities to score big with our best bets. The Winnipeg Jets look to make history by taking on the Dallas Stars before the Leafs take on the Habs in a primetime clash worthy of their age-old rivalry. The evening ends with an exciting showdown between the Oilers and the Canucks.

We’re looking to build on another shocking win from last night when we correctly predicted the underdog Seattle Kraken would defeat the Vegas Golden Knights. We hope to extend our victory and stay in the green.

All betting lines are from Bet365 and are subject to change. Hockey is a difficult sport to predict, so please play responsibly.

Bet: Stars ML (-110), Stars Jets over 6.0 goals (-105)

The Jets appear to be the first team in NHL history to win 14 of their first 15 games. It will be difficult to compete against the Dallas Stars, who have beaten them in seven of their last ten meetings. This game will be a real test for the Jets offense, which is scoring the most goals per game this season with an average of 4.50.

They’ll be going up against a Stars backend that has the seventh-best goals-to-goal average since last season at 2.77. The Jets also boast an elite backend with the best goals-against average this season (2.14) and will look to continue their underachieving streak in this matchup.

Since these two Stanley Cup contenders have scored fewer than six goals combined in four consecutive meetings, this betting line is very tight.

A subpar game is expected for Winnipeg’s Connor Hellebuyck, as the reigning Vezina Trophy champion has had an incredible performance with back-to-back shutouts heading into Saturday.

He’s long overdue for a step back, and he’s allowed three or more goals in eight of his last 10 games against the Stars. The Jets’ top offense should respond and bring the game to a close.

Bet: Leafs -1.5 (+125), Canadiens Leafs under 6.5 goals (-115)

The Habs have had major problems in defense and have recorded their worst goals-against rate so far this season at 4.07. It represents a solid chance for the Leafs offense to finally get going. They’ve dropped from their second-best goals-per-game average of 3.63 last season to 3.07, putting them outside the top 16 teams.

However, they will be without star forward Auston Matthews, but it shouldn’t hurt them as badly as people think since the Leafs have won six straight games without him in the lineup. Toronto has won five of its last six meetings against Montreal and will be looking to make up for the 1-0 loss to Montreal earlier this season.

Since 2018, the Leafs have faced the Habs twice without Matthews, winning both games by a combined score of 6-1 thanks to their impeccable defense.

The Leafs’ back end has improved significantly under new bench boss Craig Berube, which has resulted in more games falling toward the minors. Toronto has scored fewer than seven total goals in 10 of its 15 games so far this season. This game shouldn’t be close as the Leafs take the win in style.

Bet: Senators Bruins over 5.5 goals (-115), Senators ML (+120)

Normally we like to deviate from the public with our picks, but I think they might be right about the total for Linus Ullmark’s homecoming to Boston on Saturday. According to Action Network, 68 percent of bets are on the over, and I couldn’t agree more, as the main storyline of this game will be the goalkeeper duel.

Meanwhile, both have struggled to start the season with goals, averaging over three and a team average of over 3.23 per game. The Bruins were a mess overall, with both their offense and defense finishing outside of the NHL’s top 24 teams.

However, they have started to turn things around recently with wins in three of their first four games starting in November. This is a perfect spot for the Senators as their offense hasn’t slowed down, averaging 3.46 goals per game, making them a top ten offense.

They should reach out to the public as 86 percent of moneyline bets were on the Bruins as the Senators won 3-1 in their last game. I expect a shocking win for the Senators as they rally around their new goaltender.
