NFL news, injury updates: Cowboys’ Dak Prescott travels to New York for a second opinion on his hamstring injury

The Dallas Cowboys, for better or worse, are always one of the most talked about teams in the NFL due to their national fan base, outspoken ownership and decades of success during the first half of the Super Bowl era. So it’s no surprise that their starting quarterback — who signed just before the start of this season for the most guaranteed money in NFL history — traveled to New York for a second opinion on a serious hamstring injury, our news and notes from week 10.

It should also come as no surprise that while the Chiefs are 9-0, they have found ways to win without looking like the dominant offensive juggernaut they were during most phases of the Patrick Mahomes era and that’s through their offensive line A glaring hole may emerge. Even bigger would be at the top of this list as the season passes its halfway point.

Whoever you’re rooting for – or against – stick with Yahoo Sports for all the NFL news and notes from Week 10 of the 2024 regular season.

Prescott injured his hamstring and reportedly partially tore his hamstring from the bone. He could miss the rest of the season, although that will be decided this week. He was on the sidelines for Dallas’ most recent home loss – a 34-6 loss to the hated division rival Eagles – but is traveling to New York to see a specialist for a further opinion on the injury and if he chooses to do so He has to undergo surgery, he will have it this week and miss the rest of the season. The Cowboys are 3-6 and aren’t making rapid progress at this point in the year.

Amid the Cowboys’ struggles, Jerry Jones said he will not make a coaching change after his team’s recent home loss. Stay tuned.

The Chiefs have found just about every lever possible to pull out a late win this season, and Week 10’s blocked kick will live long in the memory in the Chiefs-Broncos rivalry, but what may be more pressing for Kansas City are their problems left tackle. Starter Wanya Morris left the game with a knee injury and backup Kingsley Suamataia did not perform well in his place, although Morris returned to finish the game. Partick Mahomes was sacked four times and was hit on another nine dropbacks. So it will be interesting to see how Andy Reid, Matt Nagy and offensive coach Andy Heck handle the situation at one of the most important positions in football.

How fate can change in just three weeks. After his third straight win and a four-touchdown pass performance in London, Caleb Williams appeared to be in the midst of a big leap in his rookie season. But Chicago was playing Jacksonville and had played Carolina the week before. Now, after three straight losses, Yahoo Sports senior NFL writer Frank Schwab says it’s time for head coach Matt Eberflus and offensive coordinator Shane Waldron to go, saying Chicago needs to quickly fix what’s wrong.

“I think so [an] The offensive coordinator change is almost imminent…as if you can’t keep it up. This is just ugly football,” Schawb said on Yahoo Sports’ “Inside Coverage” podcast.

  • The Bengals are a confusing team

  • The end is getting a little closer for Daniel Jones

The Giants have had issues with Daniel Jones at quarterback, and head coach Brian Daboll said as much on Monday when he said he wouldn’t commit to Jones as the starting quarterback once the team returns from its Week 11 bye.

  • Bryce Young’s “statement” game against the Giants wasn’t enough to dispel doubts

It appears the Panthers aren’t ready to fully commit to Bryce Young just yet, despite his strong play on Sunday. There’s a chance we’ll see more Andy Dalton before the season ends.

  • The Colts will give QB Joe Flacco another start against the Jets

Despite throwing three interceptions in the Colts’ 30-20 loss to the Bills on Sunday, head coach Shane Steichen told reporters that Joe Flacco will be the starting QB against the Jets in Week 11.

  • George Pickens will fight you during an interception

  • Matt Eberflus promises changes for the Bears, but the starting QB will remain the same

After Sunday’s embarrassing 19-3 loss to the Patriots, Bears head coach Matt Eberflus told the media on Monday that changes are coming for the team. Really this time! However, he cannot go into details yet as he has not yet decided what these changes will be.

There is no shortage of ways to deal with what happened to Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets.

We could take the micro standpoint and tell you the litany of failures that led to Sunday’s 31-6 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, arguably the ugliest loss of Rodgers’ Jets era. Or we could go the macro route and tally up this 3-7 team’s dismal and still-bottom playoff percentages.

We could go back even further and look through the history books and realize how much this all feels a little like Brett Favre’s disappointing one-year stint as the Jets’ starting quarterback in 2008… except this season is exponentially worse and is declining much more quickly Cliff.

This is a failed season with an objectively bad team that was completely outmatched against a soon-to-be 41-year-old quarterback who has sunk into mediocre middle ground at his position. Once we realize that, it opens the door to the question of the legacy that will preoccupy Rodgers for the rest of this lost season.

At this point, anything that opens up the possibility that the Bears could build the offense around QB Caleb Williams is a good thing.
