The former MLB pitcher Dan Serafini was guilty of murder


The former MLB pitcher Dan Serafini was found guilty at the 2021 shootout due to the first degree murder, which demanded his father-in-law's life and had injured his mother-in-law.

The victims of the attack on June 5, 2021 were Robert Gary Spohr (70), who was found dead from a single shot in a house in North Lake Tahoe, California. His wife Wendy Wood was also shot, then 68. She recovered from the injuries, but died a year later by suicide. The family cited the trauma of the attack as the reason for their death.

The public prosecutor said that the fatal incident concerned a renovation project of 1.3 million US dollars and presented SMS evidence of escalation of the disagreement and intent to the shootout. A text message sent before the attack was: “I will kill her one day.”

Serafini, 51, and 33-year-old Samantha Scott were charged with co-accused last year. In February, Scott guilty of making an accessories guilty and was introduced during the trial as a close friend of one of the daughters of the Spohrs, Erin. Erin was married to Serafini and said that she had an open marriage and was aware that Scott was romantically involved with her husband.

Erin Spohr said she didn't believe that Serafini murdered her father or shot her mother.

The video surveillance from the house and the surrounding area showed a man who wore a hood, the face cover and a backpack that went to the Spohrs' house in front of the murder. At the negotiation, evidence was made that Serafini was at home almost three hours before the attack.

The information collected during a two -year investigation caused the investigators to be Serafini and Scott.

Serafini is to be convicted on August 18 in Placer County, California.

The Minnesota twins selected Serafini, dates from the San Francisco area, whereby number 26 in the MLB design of 1992 was selected. He made his debut in 1996 and appeared in 104 games (33 starts) with the twins, Chicago Cubs, San Diego Padres, Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds and Colorado Rockies before retirement in 2007.

He had a 15-16 record with a 6.04-e-A-A-A-A-A-A-SAVE. He threw 263 inner and excluded 127 batters.
