The biggest snubs, surprises of the 2025 Emmy nominations

The biggest snubs, surprises of the 2025 Emmy nominations

Emmy nominations arrived on Tuesday morning, and if they created the list, it is a “White Lotus” Full Moon party atmosphere, full of solemn cheering, toast with their drink of the choice (it is still early, maybe some of this Thai Red Bull?) And techno music that plays loudly enough to beat.

And if you have not called your name, feel like poor pornhai, like Belinda sailing into the sunset. Or maybe they are like Saxon, divides the whole and pretend that it has never happened. We feel you.

With the Emmy submissions this year there are not so many slots to welcome all worthy work, which leads to some sad versions – which will call for the alliteration and search engine optimization “snubs”. There were also some surprises, some worthy, some about as welcome as one of these Giftpiña Coladas Jason Isaacs, who were summarized in the “White Lotus” final.

Take something to eat (maybe an object from the Hollywood buffet table of the Old School) while we go down the statements of the morning in the morning.

Surprise: The all -encompassing love for “The White Lotus”

Yes, as they could see from my intro, the third season of Mike White's Deep diving to miserable white people and fabulous brand cooperations gave a lot to discuss, even if the discourse was often focused on complaining about the slow speed and lack of action of the show. I do not treat a recognition for a series that dominated the pop culture landscape for its two -month run, but the nomination of seven of his regular actors reveals a lack of imagination among voters. Pity with the poor ensemble member not nominated. I will not even name it and bring this Fomo to the universe.

Snub: every actor of “The Pitt” who was not nominated

Conversely, there is only a nomination for the secondary crew in the Pittsburgh trauma Medical Center – for Katherine Lanasa as a west of the dose Dana Evans – an act of the negligence of the voters. I understand it. There were many interns, residents and nurses who worked this 15-hour layer. And almost every one of them was a more complete character than everyone else on “The White Lotus”. Perhaps it was difficult for the voters to focus their attention with so many decisions. I will comfort myself with the knowledge that next year it will win the Screen Actors Guild Drama Ensemble Award.

Surprise: “Paradise” (drama series)

The dystopian drama that asked the question: “Would you like to be caught in an underground bunker with people like these people?” I can't imagine anything more frightening and enough Emmy voters agreed to give the series a drama, as well as awards for the actors Sterling K. Brown, James Marsden and Julianne Nicholson.

Surprise: Sharon Horgan, “Bad Sisters” (drama actress)

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the morning because it is the only nomination that the Apple TV+ series brought in for its second season. Obviously, the voters were not in the mood to meet the last go-around from “The Handmaid's Tale” (Sorry Elisabeth Moss), and went with Horgan and their stylish history of sisterhood.

Snub: “The Four Seasons” (comedy series)

They hated these wealthy, justified Bonheads and not in a way that intends or even has fun.

Surprise: Colman Domingo “The Four Seasons” (Comedy supporting actor)

Because even if the show is mediocre, it is impossible to ignore Domingo in one season.

Snub: Natasha Lyonne, “Poker face” (comedy actress)

In order to quote Lyonne's human lie caption Charlie Cale, this is “bull”.

Surprise: Uzo Aduba, “The Residence” (Comedy actress)

Is it a surprise for an actor to get a nomination for a series that was canceled after a season? Somehow … but also the Emmy voters love Aduba after giving three trophies and six nominations over the years.

Snub: Selena Gomez, “only murders in the building” (comedy actress)

Gomez acquired her first nomination from Emmy Acting last year, but with the category that was shortened to five nominated ones from six, had to give something. Critics owe their flat, monotonic delivery. However, if you deal with Martin Short and Steve Martin, you have to find your own lane. Gomez has. Search for this debate that will continue next year when the show returns for a fifth season.

Surprise: Kristen Bell, “Nobody wants that” (comedy actress)

No surprise that she nominated – everyone saw this show in a session. But a surprise that this is her first nomination of all time. Well deserved, even if I am not convinced that Adam Brodys Rabbi would throw away everything for her character.

Snub: Kate Hudson, “Running Point” (comedy actress)

The Lakers cannot win anywhere, right?

Snub: Bridget Everett, “someone somewhere” (comedy actress)

Someone who voted somewhere for Everett, so tender and vulnerable and absolutely charming in this now final HBO series, which seems to be in the sense of “illuminated” for a long life in the cult value estimate that was created by (yes) Mike White.

Snub: Steve Martin, “only murders in the building” (comedy actor)

How do you nominate Martin Short and not Steve Martin? Big always wins subtly. You have to ask yourself whether the voters have forgotten the last season of the show or have not seen it – it has It was a while that Martin was wearing the emotional weight of the plot when his character wore the loss of the long -term stunt double and friend Sazz (played by Jane Lynch).

Snub: “The ProBe” (comedy series)

How could a show about the safety of airlines produce more laughing moments than any other comedy series this year? How could a show be so funny, revealing and, yes, occasionally frightening not nominated for the comedy series? (Also and not completely independent of one another: How could it take so long for the TSA to keep our shoes?)

Snub: Megan Stalter, “Hacks” (Comedy supporting actress)

If her star in Lena Dunham's “too much” had dropped during the electoral window, Stalter might have secured her first Emmy nomination. Or maybe not. (Dunham polarized.) In any case, Stalter could have two shots next year who will premiere “hacks” in the next (and last) season.

Snub: Meryl Streep, “only murders in the building” (comedy supporting actress)

Only a “snub” because it is Streep and she is nominated everything.

Surprise: “Black Mirror” (Limited Series)

It is like 2020 again, since the voters for the Netflix Anthology series grew up, they nominated and Rashida Jones, who subsequently was spectacular, a sloping look at the corporate greed that our health system plagued.

Snub: “Your friends and neighbors” (Limited Series)

In the course of the Jon Hamm series, it felt more like a Patek Philippe display than like any kind of comment on the empty life of the rich. (Are there no rich people who lead to fulfilling life?) At the end of his run we checked our watches, and the voters did not give him the time of day. (Excuse me.)

Snub: “Liability exclusion” (Limited Series)

What a disappointment. Alfonso Cuaróns with excitement awaited seven-capitar psychological thrillers was premiered at the Venice Film Festival last August and showed four episodes in two nights. Then it went to Telluride, Toronto and London. It was an event … until people saw it and were amazed. How could the filmmaker make something boring behind “Children of Men”, “Gravity” and “Y Tu Mamá También” that only a few people could?

Surprise: Jake Gyllenhaal, “Accepted Innocent” (Limited Series/Film Actor)

Few people thought that the voters would remember “suspected innocent” that Tuny Legal Thriller with Gyllenhaal as a public prosecutor who was accused of killing a colleague with whom he had an affair. It is a strange choice that was probably pointed out because people liked the different levels of anger that Gyllenhaal delivered. Exclusion signs!

Snub: Renée Zellweger, “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy” (Limited Series/Film Actress)

As “Love Island” defined romantic comedy for many people, she had no chance.
