A former Major League baseball pitcher was found guilty of murdering his father-in-law in a financially motivated attack.

The 51-year-old Daniel Serafini was convicted on Monday for the first degree murder in 2021, shot Robert Gary Spohr's death.

According to proofs that were presented in court, Serafini entered the Spohrs' house on June 5, 2021, in which safety material caught a hooded number that arrived three hours in front of someone 911.

Serafini's baseball career included playing for six different teams after being designed by the Minnesota Twins in the first round in 1992. His career ended in 2007. In the same year, he was suspended for 50 games for using drugs with performance -ranging performance.

A second defendant, Samantha Scott, 33, who was described both as a close friend of Serafini's wife and his lover, owed to be an accessory in February 2025.
