Grief Dolly Parton is fighting to write new music

The 79 -year -old Country Music legend Dolly Parton has a hard time writing music because she mourns her late husband Carl Dean, who died in Nashville on March 3, 2025.

The 10-time Grammy winner recently shared her songwriting fights as a guest at the reality TV star Khloé Kardashian's Khloe in Wonderland Podcast.

When Kardashian asked if there were unfinished projects that housed parton because of the block of the writer, she replied emotionally: “My husband died three months ago.” She continued: “When you asked me if there are things that I started, some things I wanted to start, but I can't do it … I'll get it later, but I only come so wonderful ideas, but I think I won't end it.”

Parton said that at the moment she “can't do it” because her schedule and “cannot afford the luxury of becoming so emotional now”, but she attributes songwriting as a source of joy.

The diverse businesswoman previously said that it was her belief, which enables her to process the continued grief of her late husband.

“I really think I will see him one day,” said Parton of the Associated Press in May. “And I see him every day in my memories and in my heart and in all the things we have done and all the things we have assembled. You just have to learn to make new plans, but that's the most difficult part.”

Parton explained that Dean was “sick” for quite a while and part of her “in peace because he is in peace”, but “that still makes it loss and loneliness.”

Dean and Parton met shortly after she moved to Nashville to Nashville 18 years later. Two years later, they married in Georgia at Memorial Day in 1966.

Dean was a businessman who had an asphalt paving business.
