Start of leasing with new non -profit affordable apartments Aloha ia Halewiliko


Aiea (Hawaiinewsnow) – Eah Housing, a non -profit organization for affordable housing buildings in Hawaii and California, announced the beginning of the leasing in Aloha Ia Halewiliko today.

The new rental community of 62 million US dollars aims to offer older adults in AEEA affordable apartments.

The residents already begin to get into the 140 units community that supports independent life for Kupuna in a supporting environment.

“We are pleased to welcome our latest residents in Aloha Ia Halwiliko,” said Laura Hall, CEO from Eah Housing. “This community reflects our mission to build more than just apartments – we create a place where KÅ«puna can live independently of dignity, support and connection.”

Aloha ia Halewiliko is located at the former location of the Aiea Sugar Mill in 99-385 Pohai Place and offers 83 studio apartments, 56 apartments with a bedroom and a manager unit.

Rents are set at affordable prices for households that earn 30%, 50%and 60%of the average profit (AMI) in the area.

Currently, the limited availability for future residents that qualify 50% and 60% of AMI level remains.

Adjacent to the 'Aiea Public Library, the three -story community is part of the wider master plan of Aiea Town Center and near public transport, shops and neighborhood services.

“Communities like Aloha Ia Halewiliko show what is possible when public and private partners work together to serve our people,” said governor Josh Green, MD “Create safe, affordable houses for our Kupuna and strengthens our social structure.”

The three -story community includes a multi -purpose room, hiking trails, fitness facilities, community gardens and digital literacy programs.

Lanakila Pacific, a local non-profit partner, will offer services on site, including meals for bikes and wellness programming to support aging.

“Tavational living space is everyone's kuleana, and this community leads the tradition to take care of each other, which Hawaii defines,” added Mayor Rick Blangiardi.

EAH Housing currently manages 23 properties with more than 2,700 units all over Hawaii and has three more affordable housing buildings, including Hale Na Koa 'o Hanakahi in Hilo.
