The national weather service in Buffalo gave A Heat advice For large parts of Western and Central New York for Wednesday.

The consultant runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In ny affected areas

  • Western Ny Counties: Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, Nord -Cayuga, Oswego, Jefferson, Livingston and Ontario

  • Central NY & Southern Tier Counties: Yates, Seneca, Süd -Cayuga, Onondaga, Schuyler, Chemung, Tompkins, Madison, Süd -oneida, Tioga and Broome

What to expect

  • Thermal index values up to 98 are expected.

  • The actual high of the day is expected to be reached in Rochester, Syracus and the surrounding area in the 90s in the upper 80s at the southern level

  • High heat and humidity can lead to an increased risk Heat -related diseasesEspecially for endangered groups such as children, older people and those who work outdoors.

Safety tips

  • Stay hydrated and stay in air -conditioned rooms if possible.

  • Avoid exhausting activities during top heat. Plan them for the early morning or evening if necessary.

  • Wear light, loosely sitting clothes.

  • Never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles – interiors can become fatal within minutes.

  • Do you know the signs of Heat creation and heat stroke. Search immediately in medical treatment when symptoms occur.
