Officially announced in November 2023Nintendos Live Action The Legend of Zelda project is produced by Miyamoto alongside Avi Arad, the former CEO of Marvel Studios. In addition to the co -financing of the film with Nintendo, Sony Pictures Entertainment will take over the distribution. Derek Connolly The Jurassic World writes the script, while the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes' Wes Ball will lead.

Last month, Nintendo delayed the publication of the film from March 2027 on his new date on May 7, 2027 – The day when Marvel previously launched Avengers: Secret Wars, which is now arriving on December 17, 2027.

“For production reasons, we change the publication date of the Live Action Film of the Legend of Zelda to May 7, 2027,” said Miyamoto at the time. “It will take a few weeks later than the time of publication that we originally announced, and we will take the additional time to make the film as much as possible. Thank you for your patience.”

Nintendo did not work further, although the industry found the new slot of the film more space from several other blockbusters of the spring 2027 such as Godzilla X Kong: Supernova and Nintendo's old rival itself: Sonic the hedge.

With less than two years until the opening of Zelda's legend in the cinemas, Nintendo still has to say something about the history or surroundings of the film. Today's Casting messages are the greatest information about the project that has come about since its first announcement.

The director Wes Ball discusses the film in May 2024 An all Mo-Cap Zelda film “Probably is not his choice” After completing the work on the CG-disturbing kingdom of the planet of the monkey. Instead, said Ball, the legend of Zelda should feel “grounded” and “real”.

“I want to fulfill the greatest wishes of the people,” said Ball in another interview about the project. “I know that it is important to this franchise, for people, and I want it to be a serious film. A real film that can escape to people … [It has] feel like something real. Something serious and cool, but funny and bizarre. “

Above all, Nintendo's big screen plans will continue in 2026 with the arrival of his animated Super Mario Bros. Film. The company also seems to have plans for an animated Donkey Kong spin-off film.
